Look Away from the Screen

Apologies Shifters for not writing very much this past month. It would seem that many other bloggers are also laying low these days for whatever reason. I can’t speak for others but for me personally, there has been a lot on my plate. Nothing bad or super-negative or anything of that sort, but a shift in outlook and perspective has been happening, in a good way, and while I’m giving myself over completely to that process, it leaves very little inclination to write very much.

Not in the mood to write very much…

Part of the problem for me here is that I really do not enjoy being in Canada and Montreal for that matter. It’s a barbaric, depressing climate and as I’m getting older, I find that there are many things about the culture and outlook which I’m finding increasingly distasteful and unbearable to deal with. This is not going to be a racist or cultural diatribe but rather an examination of the fact that centuries of cultural imperialism, genocide, colonialism, institutionalized racism, uncontested cultural appropriation, unexamined privilege and entitlement and 30 years of unfettered neoliberal policies have finally taken their toll on this landmass, physically, psychically, emotionally and spiritually. The deeper energy here is in decline and stagnating, (for me anyway). Personally, my heart is not here, it never has been and it never will be. It’s closer to the ancient world and the ancient, primordial energies of our species. That’s where I thrive.

So rather than feel sorry for myself, I’ve decided to take some active steps to shake things up a bit. I’ve started working with the earth more, harvested my vegetable patch at the local community garden, took all the peppers, chillies, basil, tomatoes, Swiss chard, kale and spending hours in the kitchen making copious amounts of home-made spaghetti sauce, roasted vegetable lasagna, spicy poblano corn chowder and have put everything into the freezer for the winter to eat, share or give away.

I’ve got more tomato sauce than I know what to do with.

I’ve started up acupuncture treatments and have started to sleep like a baby again, after years of restless sleep. I’ve been reading more about the quantum field and how that affects us.

Acupuncture totally works for me.

I have been revisiting my teen years and been going to rock shows, listening to songs taking me back 25-30 years ago by the likes of Depeche Mode,

and the Pet Shop Boys (PSB) and it was at the PSB concert this past week where something very important dawned on me.

 If you’re a regular concert goer like I am, then no doubt in the last few years, you must have noticed the amount of personal recording devices like iPhones, iPads, phone cameras, or digital cameras which have taken over audiences and how they literally block everyone’s view and enjoyment of the show. Everyone’s too damn busy recording and watching the show via their dinky little screen so that they can later post it on their social networks that they overlook the fact the real thing and the real person is right in front of them to experience and enjoy.

And then it hit me.

What if the reality we live in and experience everyday are like the symbolic equivalent of those dinky little iPhone screens,  while the deeper, more genuine reality is all around us yet we don’t see it because we’re too busy looking at the iPhone?

This jives exactly with something I’ve been reading lately, “Breaking The Habit of Being Yourself” by Dr. Joe Dispenza. Dispenza was one of the speakers in the film “What the Bleep do we Know?!” and is part of that New Age/self-help circus which I normally can’t stomach (plus he’s a follower of JZ Knight and the Ramtha School of Enlightenment—eeek!) but I have to say what he’s written is spot on and despite my initial misgivings, is resonating deeply with me.

He makes the point that real change can only happen on the quantum field and by extension, emotional field first before it shows up in your life for real. I’m not talking about magical thinking and writing up a wish-list of what you want and then hoping the Universe gives it to you. I’m talking about literally changing your thinking patterns and attitudes and reactions, about how to slip into the Eternal Now and lose yourself completely where you enter into a field of pure energy and consciousness, which is ultimately where happiness, bliss and serenity exists.

What you decide to project out once you get there is completely up to you. And this brings me to a quote by Aivanhov on the subject:

“Prayers and rituals in which believers beg for help from above are only effective if they put clear intent and ardent feeling into their words and gestures. Otherwise, it is pointless, and it’s no use then wondering why they are suffering, why heaven does not answer their prayers or come to their aid… It is quite simply that they have not sent out the powerful current with which they could contact the divine world. Words and gestures mean nothing if they are not backed up and given life by the vibrations of the soul and spirit. If you want heaven to hear you, expressing your suffering is not enough. The intense suffering that drives people to cry for help often comes through only as inner agitation, in which the soul and spirit take only a weak part. For prayer to be a power capable of touching heaven it requires harmony and inner peace.”
